Have Fun and Add Some Income Growing a Small Plot of Tomatoes

After spending many years growing vegetable commercially on large acreage and on our "truck garden", I thought I put the Hoe and shovel away to spend mopre time with our Miniature Horses.

Last year I planted Three Tomato plants to see is I could still grow High yields. Wel the experiment proved the "old Man still had something left and I just Felt "better" doing it.

So when this Year rolled around I decided to use a 24 Tomato Plant Plot (300 sq. ft) as a business model to prove my systems presented in Beginners Marketing Classs.

I set out the first 12 plants (Early Girl Variety) on March 22, 2008. This is about three weeks ahead of normal Planting date for my area and was at risk to Hard frost. The second set of Plants (Ace variety) were planted March 29th.

Continuing the Saga Of Growing Tomatoes, First Pruning

The next Video will demonstrate how we Prune our Tomatoes for strong support growth andlarge yields.

The premise of this "Business Model" is a yield of 1,000 pounds of marketable Tomatoes from 24 plants and yielding $1,000 Fun Money, plus availability of FRESH Produce and the Health benefits of being outside every day for a short time and exercise.

There are many Tomato Gardners who scoff at the idea of pruning. It is not necessary to have adequate yield, but if one wants Optimization, pruning is needed. Also there is a certail sense of satisfaction in being creatve and "testing" the natural process.

Pruning, and staking keeps me outside a bit longer and that is health for my Mind and Body
